From your initial consultation, to design, construction and project management, Island Pools is committed to making your pool-building experience a seamless, easy one. By assigning each of our clients a dedicated project manager, we ensure that someone is always available to answer any questions, keep clients informed and commit to complete client satisfaction.
While every custom-built pool is different, the design and building process is fairly consistent, with most pools taking approximately 6 to 8 weeks to complete.
During an initial cost-free consultation, we’ll gather information about what you want to accomplish.
Then we’ll measure the yard, consider the location for sunlight and usability, and make sure that you understand all of the available options. We listen carefully so we can seamlessly incorporate your dreams and your vision into an affordable and functional backyard oasis.
Using advanced 3D-modeling design software, you’ll actually be able to see what your new pool will look like in amazing detail. To further customize the experience, you’ll also be able to discuss and decide on additional options, details and features.
As we walk you through the building process, our representatives will schedule a “pre‐construction meeting” with you and your project manager so you know exactly what to expect over the next few weeks.
We will start by grading and excavating, or digging out the site. We’ll also perform any necessary demolition during this phase. After the site has been excavated, we will install the reinforcing steel, or rebar. Then the plumbing and electrical work will be completed before the pool goes through an initial inspection.
This usually takes between one and two weeks to cure, or dry. After the Shotcrete has cured, we will install the pool coping and tile.
If you have chosen to include features such as custom walls, rock fixtures, waterfalls, a barbecue pit or a fireplace, they will be built and installed during this phase of construction.
It usually takes two weeks to prepare the deck and one week to install the decking. Then your pool will go through another inspection. Any options such as gates, fences and alarms will also be installed at this time.

This is one of the last phases of construction. It will usually only take one day to plaster your pool.
When the plaster phase is complete, your pool will finally be ready to be filled with water. We will discuss with you any necessary swimming pool maintenance and care tips. Now it’s time to call your friends and family over for a celebratory pool party!
